Increased Average Longevity among the “Tour de France” Cyclists

A new study published in the International Journal of Sports Medicine notes that Tour de France” Cyclists live longer than the general population, despite the view that extreme exercise is detrimental to long term health. The authors write:

The age at which 50% of the general population died was 73.5 vs. 81.5 years in Tour de France participants.
